Some schools in the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÍ¿ª½±ÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ area, including Ascension, East Ïã¸ÛÁùºÍ¿ª½±ÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ and Livingston parish schools, have announced they will close or shift to virtual instruction Wednesday as severe weather approaches.
Southern University in Ïã¸ÛÁùºÍ¿ª½±ÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ announced it is closing Wednesday, except Southern's law school will shift to remote classes. LSU, Ïã¸ÛÁùºÍ¿ª½±ÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ Community College, Fran U and Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond are all shifting to remote classes Wednesday.Â
The public school districts in Iberville, Pointe Coupee, St. James and West Ïã¸ÛÁùºÍ¿ª½±ÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ parishes were the first to announce they were closing.
Assumption Parish schools is the only school district that announced that they are planning to remain open Wednesday for normal operations. Other schools planning to stay open Wednesday include The Dunham School, The Emerge School for Autism in Ïã¸ÛÁùºÍ¿ª½±ÀúÊ·¼Ç¼, Louisiana Schools for the Deaf and Visually Impaired, Louisiana Virtual Charter Academy and Prescott Academy.
Several parochial schools quickly announced they were likewise closing Wednesday. Catholic schools in the multi-parish Diocese of Ïã¸ÛÁùºÍ¿ª½±ÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ are following the lead of the public school systems in the respective civil parishes where they are located.
