The National Weather Service confirmed tornado damage north of St. Francisville on Wednesday.

The reported damage is "consistent with at least an EF-1 tornado," the agency said in a post on X. 

The Enhanced Fujita scale is used by the NWS to assign ratings to tornadoes based on wind speeds and tornado-related damage. An EF rating of 1 indicates a peak wind gust of up to 110 miles per hour.

Officials reported downed trees, snarled power lines, damaged roofs and hurled debris, leading to road closures and other disruptions.

A survey of the damage is ongoing and will be completed Wednesday evening to determine the tornado path length, width and wind speeds, the NWS said.

Storms were felt across Louisiana on Wednesday, with a similar tornado hitting Slidell,
