As workers continue recovery efforts after storms ripped through Louisiana on Wednesday, progress has been made for those in the Feliciana parishes but some are still without power.

As of Saturday evening, DEMCO, the area's largest electrical provider, had reported 1,100 outages in West Feliciana and 270 in East Feliciana.

The figures show improvement, as more than 3,500 DEMCO customers in West Feliciana and more than 1,300 in East Feliciana were still without power Thursday evening.

The area's other major provider, Entergy, had just 10 outages in East Feliciana as of Saturday afternoon, contrasted with 349 on Thursday. The company was reporting just two outages in West Feliciana on Saturday afternoon.

Wednesday's severe weather, which included a tornado in the St. Francisville area, brought major winds and rain, uprooted trees knocked down power lines.

School districts in both parishes canceled school for students on Thursday and Friday. 

East Feliciana Public Schools announced Saturday it will reopen on Monday.

West Feliciana schools will remain closed until Tuesday due to a scheduled staff planning day.
