The number of power outages in East Ïã¸ÛÁùºÍ¿ª½±ÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ Parish grew quickly Wednesday morning as thunderstorms moved through. 

At about 1 p.m., Entergy reported about 5,400 customers without power in East Ïã¸ÛÁùºÍ¿ª½±ÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ Parish, down from approximately 15,000 earlier in the day, according to the . DEMCO reported a little over 8,000  in the parish at 1 p.m.

Most of the outages are in Zachary, Baker and Central.

Zachary police reported at about 9:40 a.m. that all traffic lights in the city are out and advised residents to stay home, if possible, or to approach the traffic light intersections as four-way stops and proceed with caution if they have to travel. 

West Feliciana and East Feliciana parishes have been hard hit, as well, utility companies reported Wednesday morning.

At 1 p.m. Wednesday, DEMCO reported 3,231 customers in West Feliciana were without power. In East Feliciana, approximately 4,000 of DEMCO customers were without power. 

Entergy also reported outages in the Felicianas -- more than 3,000 in East Feliciana and about 700 in West Feliciana, at 1 p.m. Wednesday.  

In Ascension Parish, the Sheriff's Office said at 11:30 a.m. that Entergy crews were working to repair a downed utility pole on La. 427 at Plantation Boulevard in Prairieville. The roadway is closed. 

Power outages in the area, due to the downed utility pole, could possibly last until 10 p.m. Wednesday, the sheriff's office reported. Entergy reported 1,404 outages there. 

The power outages come as a storm with up to 80 mph swept through the area.
