´¡²õÌý raced Wednesday towards the Gulf coast, East Ïã¸ÛÁùºÍ¿ª½±ÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ and several other school districts, as well as LSU and Southern universities, decided to dismiss classes early for the day.

Those early closings prompted many charter and private schools to follow suit. In so doing, they joined Livingston and St. Helena parishes which had earlier decided to end school early Wednesday.

Tangipahoa Parish schools, already closed Wednesday for in-person instruction, decided to postpone the start of school on Thursday by two hours. Similarly, Livingston Parish schools plan to start Thursday an hour later than normal.

Also several government agencies also announced plans to close early Wednesday, including Ïã¸ÛÁùºÍ¿ª½±ÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ city-parish and Ascension Parish governments.

As with previous storms this year, K-12 schools in the metro Ïã¸ÛÁùºÍ¿ª½±ÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ area are deciding whether to stay open, close their doors, close partially or shift to offering education remotely. Their responses run the gamut.

Here's a running list of schools and school districts and their plans:

Ascension Parish

  • Public schools closed Wednesday for in-person instruction in favor of remote learning. Reopening Thursday for normal operations.
  • Ascension Catholic School is dismissing classes at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
  • St. John Primary School is dismissing classes at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
  • St. Theresa Middle School is dismissing classes at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
  • Ascension Parish government is closing its offices at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Assumption Parish

  • Public schools closed Wednesday, but plan to reopen Thursday.
  • St. Elizabeth School closed Wednesday.

East Ïã¸ÛÁùºÍ¿ª½±ÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ Parish

  • The parish public school district are dismissing early Wednesday, middle and high school students at 12:30 p.m., and elementary students at 1:30 p.m. School Board offices are closing at 3 p.m .and late meal distribution for virtual students is canceled.
  • Metro Council meetings scheduled for 4 p.m. Wednesday have been rescheduled, with a special meeting at 10 a.m .Friday and another special meeting at 4 p.m. on Nov. 4.
  • City-parish buildings, including City Hall and all community centers, are closing at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday and will be restricted to essential personnel only.
  • Baker City schools are dismissing early between noon and 1 p.m. Wednesday.
  • Ïã¸ÛÁùºÍ¿ª½±ÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ Community College closed Wednesday.
  • Catholic High School is dismissing classes early at 1 p.m. Wednesday. 
  • Central schools are closing early Wednesday, with secondary grades dismissing at 1 p.m. and elementary grades dismissing at 2 p.m.
  • Cristo Rey Franciscan Ïã¸ÛÁùºÍ¿ª½±ÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ High School is closing early at 1:30 p.m.
  • Collegiate Ïã¸ÛÁùºÍ¿ª½±ÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ is dismissing classes early around noon Wednesday.
  • The Dunham Schools remained open Wednesday, but canceled all after-school activities.
  • East Ïã¸ÛÁùºÍ¿ª½±ÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ Parish Library, all locations, are closing early at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
  • Episocopal High School is closing early at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
  • Greater Ïã¸ÛÁùºÍ¿ª½±ÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ Hope Academy is closing at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
  • IDEA Innovation is closing early at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
  • Impact Charter School is closing early at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
  • J.K. Haynes Charter School is closing early at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
  • Louisiana Key Academy is closing early at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
  • LSU is closing its campus at 12:30 p.m., but online courses will continue as scheduled.
  • LSU Lab School is dismissing classes early at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
  • Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic School is closing early at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday.
  • Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic School is closing at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
  • St. Jean Vianney Catholic School is closing early at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
  • St. James Episcopal Day School is dismissing classes early at 11:40 a.m. Wednesday.
  • St. Joseph's Academy is closing early at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
  • St. Luke's Episcopal School is closing early at noon Wednesday.
  • South Ïã¸ÛÁùºÍ¿ª½±ÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ Charter Academy is closing early at noon Wednesday.
  • Southern University is closing early at noon Wedneday.
  • Southern University Lab School is dismissing classes early at noon Wednesday.
  • Zachary schools are closing early, between 12:30 and 2 p.m. Wednesday, depending on the school.

East Feliciana Parish

  • Silliman Institute is closing early at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
  • Slaughter Community Charter School is closing early at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Iberville Parish

  • Public schools remained are dismissing classes early at noon Wednesday.
  • Iberville Charter Academy is dismissing classes early at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
  • St. John Interparochial School is dismissing classes early at noon Wednesday.

Livingston Parish

  • Public schools on Wednesday are operating only half the day before dismissing students early. They plan to start school Thursday an hour later than usual.

Pointe Coupee Parish

  • Publics schools closed 15 minutes earlier than usual Wednesday

River Parishes Community College

  • All campuses shifted to remote work on Wednesday, but plan to reopen Thursday.

St. Helena Parish

  • Public schools will dismiss classes early Wednesday at 1 p.m.

St. James Parish

  • Public schools closed Wednesday for in-person instruction in favor of remote learning. Reopening Thursday for normal operations.
  • St. Peter Chanel School closed Wednesday.
  • St. James Parish government at noon Wednesday.
  • St. James Paris Hospital clinics close at 2 p.m. and St. James Urgent Care is closed.

Tangipahoa Parish

  • Public schools closed Wednesday for in-person instruction in favor of remote learning and plan to start school on Thursday two hours later than usual.
  • Holy Ghost School will dismiss classes at noon Wednesday.
  • Mater Dolorosa School will dismiss classes at noon Wednesday.
  • St. Joseph School will dismiss classes at noon Wednesday.
  • St. Thomas Aquinas High School closed for in-person instruction Wednesday in favor of a virtual-only day.

West Ïã¸ÛÁùºÍ¿ª½±ÀúÊ·¼Ç¼

  • Public schools remained open Wednesday.

West Felicana Parish

  • Public schools remained open Wednesday, but after-school athletics have been canceled.
