RRAAM's third Thursday set

River Road African American Museum's Third Thursday program on Thursday will include a celebration at the historic Rosenwald School, 511 Williams St., Donaldsonville.

Learn more about the young African-American journey during the program.

The program is for industry professionals and others. Ed Willis and Blues 4 will perform and amuse-bouche by Rap and Roux will be served.

The program starts at 7 p.m. It's free for industry professionals and others pay $20.

ACT to stage 'Beauty and the Beast'

Auditions are set for April 29-May 1 for Ascension Community Theatre's production of "Beauty and the Beast. Visit  for more information.

Spring vendor show set

The VFW jambalaya cook-off and spring vendor show are set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 4 at the VFW hall at 12130 Churchpoint Road, Gonzales.

La. 621 farmers market opens for spring

The spring farmers market is now open on La. 621. 

The market includes fresh produce and other local vendors selling their wares.

The market is held from 8 a.m. to noon.

Drop-off recycling

Residents can drop off their recycling at the Recycling Center at the Department of Public Works headquarters, 42077 Churchpoint Road, in Gonzales. Operating hours are from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. 

The new recycling center in Donaldsonville is open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

The West Ascension Recycling Center, 2171 Thibaut Drive, accepts cardboard, plastics, newspapers and magazines, metal, automobile tires, scrap paper, cartons, scrap metal and white goods.

Buy a Brick program at RRAAM

River Road African American Museum is selling brick pavers to fund its Rosenwald School restoration project in Donaldsonville.

The bricks are $100 and can include three lines of copy.
