The former Podnuh’s Bar-B-Que location on South Sherwood Forest Boulevard has been sold for $850,000 to a group that plans to turn it into an Asian noodle restaurant.

The building at 2648 S. Sherwood Forest was sold Thursday, said Troy Daigle of Jarreau Real Estate, who represented the seller. Podnuh’s closed the restaurant last week after more than 30 years because of declining business, he said. The Podnuh’s restaurant on Florida Boulevard is still open.

The buyer was Sheng Hua La 2024, a limited liability company based out of Arlington, Texas, Daigle said. One of the officers in the company is Zhen Hong Chen of Youngsville, who was part of a group that recently purchased the former Walgreens at the corner of Staring Lane and Perkins Road. The building is being converted into a hot pot and Korean barbecue restaurant that will open in early 2025.

The group plans to turn the 3,550-square-foot barbecue restaurant into an Asian noodle house, said Sophie Zhao of Beyond Realty in Lafayette, who represented the buyers. The renovations should be completed in about three months, she said.
