The hot chicken is back on the menu full-time at Overpass Merchant, 2904 Perkins Road, Ïã¸ÛÁùºÍ¿ª½±ÀúÊ·¼Ç¼. Rejoice! 

Oxbow Rum Distillery, 760 St Philip St., Ïã¸ÛÁùºÍ¿ª½±ÀúÊ·¼Ç¼, is taking home some hardware. Double gold hardware, at that.

The distillery won two double gold awards at The Tasting Alliance's San Francisco World Spirits Competition, Top Shelf. The Tasting Alliance is the largest and longest-running blind evaluation competition in the industry, committed to three key principles: legacy, integrity and impartiality.

Double Gold medal winners are selected by the most trusted blind judging panels in the world. Out of thousands of entries over the course of the year, only a small percentage are awarded Double Gold.

If you pass by Curbside Burgers, 4158 Government St., Ïã¸ÛÁùºÍ¿ª½±ÀúÊ·¼Ç¼, you may spot something new on the building. Artist Marc Fresh, with design by Tilt, painted a mural that shows off Curbside's signature food truck, burgers and backyard hangout.

Hot Art. Cool Nights.: 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, May 10, in Mid City Ïã¸ÛÁùºÍ¿ª½±ÀúÊ·¼Ç¼ 

From Jefferson Highway at Goodwood Boulevard to the intersection of Government and 14th streets, Mid City Merchants is taking over with — you guessed it — hot art. There will also be live music, and food available for purchase. Some of the food vendors include Soji, Rocca Pizzeria, Superior Bar and Grill, MJ's Café and Mid City Bakery.

The festival is free to attend. Use of rideshare apps is encouraged, as well as bike riding on Mid City's newest bike lanes.

Cinco de Mayo

Cinco Brunch: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Le Chien Brewing Company, 101 S. Hummel St., Denham Springs

Join Le Chien for brunch to indulge in a special menu inspired by the flavors of Mexico, plus bottomless margarita-mimosas. Tickets start at $15 for kids and $28 for adults, available for purchase at the event.

The Queen, 1717 River Park Blvd., Ïã¸ÛÁùºÍ¿ª½±ÀúÊ·¼Ç¼, will celebrate Cinco de Mayo Sunday at 1717 Kitchen and Cocktails. Enjoy a pairing of three tacos for $18 — with your choice of steak and cilantro, yellow onion and chimichurri or grilled chicken with tomato, shredded cheese and lettuce — served with roasted street corn, tortilla chips and house-made salsa. Add a pineapple margarita or Modelo Especial draft beer.

Elite Agaves: 6 p.m. Friday at Martin Wine and Spirits, 6463 Moss Side Lane, Ïã¸ÛÁùºÍ¿ª½±ÀúÊ·¼Ç¼

Enjoy a sophisticated tequila tasting featuring four tequilas and two expertly crafted tequila cocktails. The tasting lineup includes Leyenda Blanco, Leyenda Reposado, Don Pilar Anejo and Don Pilar Extra Anejo.
