For the first 13 innings of UL’s critical Sun Belt road series against Coastal Carolina, the No. 19-ranked Chanticleers’ big bats ruled.

Then LP Langevin’s power arm entered the game in the fifth inning of Saturday’s second game and everything changed.

Langevin retired all 15 batters he faced with 10 strikeouts to lead the No. 14-ranked Ragin’ Cajuns to an 8-6 comeback win over Coastal at Spring Brooks Stadium in Conway, South Carolina.

The Cajuns improved to 31-10 overall and 15-2 in the Sun Belt while Coastal dropped to 26-12 and 10-7. It was UL's fifth win of the season when trailing after seven innings.

The victory came after a 9-1 loss to the Chanticleers in the first game Friday night. UL walked eight batters and committed five errors in that loss.

With Coastal getting ahead big early on Friday, Langevin wasn’t utilized and saved for Saturday.

UL freshman southpaw Chase Morgan struggled in his four innings Saturday, giving up six runs over the first three innings. In four-plus frames, Morgan allowed six runs (five earned) on seven hits, one walk and struck out four. He did post a zero in the fourth before leaving after yielding a leadoff single in the fifth.

UL still had to rally despite Langevin’s shutdown pitching after the right-hander entered the game trailing 6-5 in the bottom of the fifth. After not scoring for three straight innings, the Cajuns broke through with three runs in the eighth.

Connor Cuff led off with a single before John Taylor walked and Luke Yuhasz was hit by a pitch.

After a wild pitch got the tying run home, Caleb Stelly and Duncan Pastore delivered sacrifice flies to deep right to put the Cajuns ahead for good.

UL outhit the Chanticleers 11-7 in the game but stranded 11 runners on base to three for Coastal.

Pastore was 3 for 4 with four RBIs, including a two-run single to cut Coastal’s lead to 6-5 in the fourth.

Yuhasz, Kyle DeBarge and Cuff all collected two hits for the Cajuns.
