A Maurice man was killed Thursday when his motorcycle collided with a truck on Ambassador Caffery Parkway, the Lafayette Police Department said.

The crash happened in the 4000 block of Ambassador Caffery Parkway around 7:48 p.m. Ronnie Lee Trahan, 34, of Maurice, was killed in the crash, Lafayette Police spokesperson Det. Ken Handy said in a statement.

Trahan was riding a motorcycle south in the outside lane when a truck, headed north, turned left onto Dover Boulevard and entered Trahan’s lane of travel. The 34-year-old's motorcycle struck the rear passenger side of the truck. Trahan was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lafayette Parish Coroner’s Office, Handy said.

The driver of the truck submitted a breath sample which showed no alcohol present, he said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lafayette Police Department’s Traffic Division.
